Chonburi Buffalo Race is a long-established celebration of this most useful animal of Thai famers. A fun-filled event, it is held not only in Chon Buri itself but also in Ban Bueng and Nong Yai districts. The beasts of burgen are dressed outrageously or with admiragble creativity by owners depending on their imagination. Assembled in th ecourtyard in front of the town hall, the buffaloes partake in racing, or take part in physical fitness and "fashion" contests. The festival annually takes place on a day before the full moon of the 11th lunar month (October or November), concurrently with the end of the 3-month Buddhist Lent. It is interesting festival if you visit Chonburi province in this period should not miss!
