The Night Bazaar
Chiang Mai is renowned for shopping in the night and the night bazaar is one of a large market that tourists, both foreign and Thai like to come here. Along the street, there are many shops selling anything from silks acarves to antique furniture. The street has a large and famous nightly bazaar in terms of shopping such as arts, handicrafts an counterfeit products of all descriptions. There are a number of shopping centers of Chiang Mai. Several city blocks are along sidewalks. A handicraft and food market are held on every Sunday evening. The street is closed down for motorized traffic and attracted many local residents and tourists.
For those who enjoy honing their bargaining skills, this is the place to be. The Night Bazaar is probably the largest outlet of local handicrafts with hundreds of stalls and shops stretching along a long section of Chang Khlan Road. Interesting products are hill tribe crafts, hand-woven fabrics, clothes, silver jewelry, antiques, lacquer ware, woodcarvings, pottery, basketry, and other local items.
Open daily between sunset and midnight, the Night Bazaar is the place to go for souvenirs, handicrafts, fake goods, textiles, and other knickknacks. The products and trends available at the Night Bazaar change constantly so it's still an exciting place for locals to occasionally shop, as well as for tourists looking for souvenirs.
