Doi Saket is a charming rural village set in a rich, green valley that is one of the most beautiful settings in the Chiang Mai area. In the center of the village, on a hill overlooking the valley is the Doi Saket temple. This temple, set half in a forest and half on the open hilltop, has recently been expanded and shows some of the best of Chiang Mai's temple architecture and the views are picture perfect.
The Bo Sang and San Kampaeng handicraft villages offer a wide range of factories and handicraft wholesale shops and an afternoon here will give you a taste of the types of traditional and hand crafted products that have made the area famous. There are many nooks and crannies to explore along this quaint stretch of road and the shops and factories you chose to visit will be up to your personal preference. You can see local handmade umbrella and fan, mulberry (saa) paper products, silk products, silver and gem stones, celadon ceramics, wood products, and more. Our guide will help you navigate the villages and we will not take you into any shops for our personal profit; an unfortunate occurrence that can be a bother for many tourists. In the handicraft villages you will not just see the products but you will also learn about their production and the importance of this industry to the traditional Thai lifestyle. This is a full day and will give you a good appreciation of the area to the north and east of the city.
