Overview of Thailand
The Kingdom of Thailand, the land of the free and the land of smile. With 513,115 sq. km. of beautiful landscape, glorious weather and vast natural resources. With approximately 63 million people, Thailand is the 20th most-populous country in the world.

Thai History
The history of Thailand goes back to the paleolithic period, about 10,000 years ago.
The land passed through several kingdos such as Tai, Mon, Khmer and Malay.
Until the first 'Thai' kingdom, Sukhothai came to rule, followed by kingdom of Ayutthaya, and Thonburi. To the present dynasty, the Chakri. In 1932, a bloodless revolution lead Thailand to a constitutional monarchy and democracy was established in the 1980s.

Thai culture
The cultures and traditions of Thailand, which have been passed down from generation to generations are significantly influenced by those of India, China, Cambodia, and modernisation like the rest of the world. Thai culture is also influenced by the main religion, Buddhism as well as the monachy.

Thai economy
Thailand is a LEDC (lesser economically developed country). In the past Thailand is said to have a good infrastructure which allowed it to enjoy the world's highest growth rate from 1985 to 1996.
But the 1997 economic crisis where the Thai baht seriously weakened, since then the country has recovered with high export in agriculture, automobiles, electronics and tourism.

Thailand regions is devided into 4 distinct regions Mountainous North (Nua), NorthEast Plateau(Isarn), Central Plains(Klang), Sea South (Tai). Some Thai would say that the East (Twan-tok) is another region.

Thai Food
Thai Food is well known in over the world. Almost of Thai food is cooked with fresh ingredients, including vegetables, poultry, pork and some beef. And plenty of rice, lime juice, lemon grass and fresh coriander leaf are added to give the food is its characteristics fish sauce or shrimp paste to make it salty. Rice plates and noodle dishes, Thai meals are usually ordered family style, which is to say that two or more people order together and sharing different dishes.
